Ladies Take Down Redlands; Advance in Central Plains District
(October 30, 2025) Enid, Oklahoma - After an 11-1-2 regular season, the Bucks headed to the Central Plains District Tournament as the #2 seed from the South Division. The ladies were paired up with the North's #3 seed, Redlands Community College. The Bucks beat Redlands 3-0 earlier this year at Tapley Park.

UARM wanted to start quickly and get on the score sheet early if they could, because they had struggled recently to score in the first half of games. Maya Lane (Southend-on-Sea, England) had a wide open chance in the first few minutes when she cut in from the right wing latching onto a through pass from midfield, but her resulting shot went straight at the goalkeeper. The intent was very clear as UARM passed the ball quickly and gave their strikers the ammunition with which to use to open the scoring. Solange Depirou (St. Albans, England), Caitlyn Turner (Napier Hawkes Bay, New Zealand), Maeliss Pottez (Wavrans-sur-l'Aa, France) also had shots at goal which couldn't find the corner of the net.

Just as it looked as if the first half would go scoreless, the Bucks scored twice in quick succession. Flavia Marcano (Porter, TX) played the ball into the penalty area. Depirou ran onto the pass to place home into the corner of the goal. Very soon afterwards, Marcano was involved once again when her corner kick was headed home by Addison Gonzalez (Wylie, TX) from 8 yards out. That was the security the UARM team needed to slow the game down and manage the minutes left in the half. However, just as the half was ending Caitlyn Turner played a perfectly weighted pass between the Redlands defenders for Solange Depirou to run onto. She returned the pass to Turner as she ran into the penalty area in support. Turner's first time shot went low and into the corner of the goal to give UARM a commanding 3-0 at half time.

UARM had some injury issues which needed to be addressed, and as a result, the squad was rotated to cover for the missing players and consequently the second half was more of a drab stop-start affair as the game played out with neither team really threatening to score. This was down to great defensive work from both sides and a drop in technical ability in each teams performance. UARM knew they had the win, and that was all that mattered as they progressed to the semi-final tomorrow.

Coach Kevin Sherry is happy for how his team came out to play early on in the game. "We started really well and was relieved the goals came when they did. It was well deserved for all the pressure they put on Redlands from the outset. The second half was not much to write home about, but we did have to manage some injuries, which is a worry for tomorrow, and were able to give many of the bench players some valuable minutes in that second half. I just hope we can recover, get patched up and be ready to go again tomorrow."

The ladies will play the North's #1 seed Rose State College at 11:30 am on Friday, October 31st, at Advance Soccer Complex in Enid, OK.
