(October 8, 2025) Wilburton, Oklahoma - After a pair of region wins last week over NEO & Connors State, the Bucks drove across the Arkansas-Oklahoma border for a region matchup with Eastern Oklahoma State College. Earlier this season, the Bucks fell 3-0 at Tapley Park back in September.
Eastern took control of the game from the start, and two long balls over the heads of the UARM back line led to two goals within the first 10 minutes. The first was a shot from an acute angle, and the second was direct from a free kick. Just as UARM was getting a foothold in the game, the Bucks conceded a third goal after the winger cut inside, and a weak shot went into the net at the near post to make it 3-0. However, UARM kept fighting and got a goal back due to Ian Aguirre (Toronto, Canada) latching onto a loose pass and chipping the ball over the advanced keeper from 35 yards out to cut into the Eastern lead at the half.
The Bucks pushed hard at the start of the second half with more of an attacking mindset and were rewarded with a second goal, via a 60-yard thunderbolt from Joao Ravache (Curitiba, Brazil) after one timing an interception in midfield. It was the goal of the game and a spectacular sight. Unfortunately, some basic mistakes from the Bucks killed the momentum as Eastern added two more goals late to end the game 5-2.
The men are now 3-7-2 overall and 3-5-2 in region play. The Bucks are still fighting for a postseason berth to the Region 2 Tournament at the end of the month in Enid, OK.
Coach Kevin Sherry is still optimistic about his young team with 2 games remaining. "It wasn't our always going to be tough playing such a highly physical and technically gifted team, but the guys tried hard and gave it everything which was nice to see. Postseason qualification is still within our sights, so we keep going."
The men have a week off before playing at Connors State College on Wednesday, October 15th.
