Bucks Season Comes to an End at 37-17

Bucks Season Comes to an End at 37-17

(May 9, 2026) Ardmore, Oklahoma - After a loss on Friday, the ladies played again this morning against Western Oklahoma State. The Bucks and Lady Pioneers split their 4-game series last week in Altus.

Western Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning, but the ladies were able to scratched across a run in the bottom half on a Lynden Cole (Gadsden, TN) RBI double to left field. Western added to their lead in the second inning, but the Bucks responded in a big way with a 3-run bottom of the second. Emily Stout (Vilonia, AR) grounded into a fielder's choice to plate a run. Two hitters later, Kensley Allen (Muskogee, OK) hit a 2-RBI double to left field. This would be all the runs would score and fell 11-4.

Unfortunately, the ladies came up just short to end their season at 37-17 and as the #2 seed in the Southwest Plains District Tournament.

First basemen Ashlen VanMeter (Brock, TX) exited the game early due to a head/neck injury. The sophomore is doing great and will be released from the hospital this afternoon.

This is the winningest group of Sophomores in Bucks Softball History. The ladies won 82 softball games in their time as a Buck and have left their mark for future teams to match. Thanks from Coach Nealy, Coach Wideman, Coach Kristen, and Mr. Jerod for all that you have done for UA Rich Mountain and Bucks Softball.
