Bucks Split w/ Western; Solidify #2 Seed

(April 30, 2026) Altus, Oklahoma - After a split on Wednesday, the Bucks headed back to the ballpark this morning needing a win to solidify the #2 seed in the upcoming NJCAA DII Softball Southwest Plains District in Ardmore, Oklahoma next week. The tournament will be held at Regional Park on May 6th - 10th. 

Was To start the day, the Bucks wanted to get out to a fast start and did taking an early 2-0 lead. UARM scored in four straight innings and again in the top of the sixth to take an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Western Oklahoma added a run, but the damage was already done as the ladies took the third game of the series 8-2. More importantly, the Bucks sewed up the #2 seed in the Southwest Plains District Tournament. Their first game in the tournament will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 6th.

In the win, the ladies cranked out 12 hits to score their 8 runs. Kensley Allen (Muskogee, OK) swung the biggest bat of the day with another home run and 3 RBIs. The third basemen recorded 3 total hits. Brooke Tyler (Gainesville, TX) found herself back in the lead off position and reached 3 times, including a double with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. The sophomore duo of Emily Stout (Vilonia, AR) and Linley Collins (Whitesboro, OK) each had a pair of hits with a double each. Stout drove in a pair of runs and scored twice, while Collins had 1 RBI, 1 run, and stole a base in the win. 

Abigail Koppein (Mena, AR) returned to the circle in back-to-back games and pitched another 7.0 innings. Koppein (13-3) recorded her team leading 13th win, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out a pair.

The ladies would fall in the series finale 8-0 in 5-innings. Their overall regular season record finishes at 35-15 with a 21-7 record in Region 2.
