Bucks Survive Against Norseman

Bucks Survive Against Norseman
(October 1, 2025) Miami, Oklahoma - After a draw on Sundy against NOC-Enid, the Bucks hit the road on Wednesday for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for a region match against the Norsemen. Earlier this season at Tapley Park, the Bucks fell 2-0 in the region match. The men are currently hunting for a postseason berth later in October.

UARM went straight into attack mode from the kickoff and kept NEO encamped in their half for much of the first quarter of the game. The Bucks had some great opportunities such as Tyler Sansom (Peterborough, England) feeding Cavan Chedzey (Burgess Hill, England) through on goal, but his shot went high with the goalkeeper stranded in front of him. Hudson Brawner (Montgomery, TX) had a chance on the break, but his shot went low and wide. UARM was confident the goal was coming, but the ball just refused to go into the net. As the half came to an end, NEO almost scored themselves when their corner kick was cleared off the line by Logan Robinson (Peterborough, England) after a free header from 8 yards out. Despite dominating the half, UARM almost conceded, and the players knew that this game was on a knife's edge going into the second half.

The second half followed a similar path to the first with UARM dominating possession, but once again, the shots were high and wide of the goal which always kept NEO in the competition. In a strange twist, NEO started to gain control of the game and began to test the Bucks defense with constant high balls being delivered into the penalty area and were pushing to score. Suddenly, out of nowhere, UARM took the lead. A counter attack from an NEO attack was expertly played by the Bucks midfield breaking forward. Eventually, Chedzey laced off a ball to Elliott Ramsey (Batley, England) who hit it low and hard through the NEO defense and nestled in the far corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

UARM took off a striker and added an extra defender to combat the predicted onslaught from NEO, who were desperate to get that goal back. The onslaught came and for the last 20 minutes, Buck defenders had to stand on the edge of their penalty box and head or kick away numerous long high balls. Their backs were to the wall defending, but the team stood tall and kept NEO scoreless for the whole game. The men picked up the road win over the Norsemen.

Coach Kevin Sherry was very proud of his team and their efforts Wednesday evening. "I am so happy for the guys. They have played so well recently and just haven't had the luck.Today, we played great and had some luck which we took to get the win. This was not an easy game, and the grit and determination the players showed today was outstanding. They deserve this win and am so proud of them."

The Bucks are now 2-6-2 overall (2-4-2) heading into Sunday's matchup with Connors State College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm at Tapley Park.
