Livestock Finished 6th Overall at Dixie National Beef Contest

(February 14, 2026) Jackson, Mississippi - After a successful trip last week to Georgia, the men and women of UARM Livestock Judging hit the road again on Friday for the Dixie National Collegiate Beef Judging Contest. The team visited Van Voast Farms in Horatio a long the way for a workout. 

Overall, the team finished 6th as a team in the Beef Judging Contest. The contest was divided into Breeding & Market animals followed by Reasons. 

Individually, there were 75 judgers in the freshmen contest. Rylie Bignar (Prairie Grove, AR) finished one place outside the top 20 for the event with a 21st place finish on the day. Tierany Sloan (Exeter, MO) placed 25th overall, while Kaleb Self (Susan Moore, AL) and Anna Sweat (McCaskill, AR) placed 32nd and 37th, respectively, to finish in the top half of the field. 

In the Market classes, the Bucks finished 3rd as a team. Bignar was one of two top 10 finishes for the Bucks, finishing 9th in the Market classes. Sweat followed placing 17th to get a top 20 finish. 

The team finished 6th in their Breeding classes. Self had the team's second top 10 finish, placing 10th.

The Bucks talked Reasons that was good enough for 5th place as a team. Kaleb Self once again led the Bucks with a 13th overall placing.

The team will now have a month off from contest, but they will have multiple workouts and high school events to attend before heading to the Southeastern Livestock Expo in Montgomery, Alabama on March 11th.
