(September 20, 2025) Cookeville, Tennessee - After starting their Fall season at the Top Notch Swine Contest earlier this month, the Bucks hit the road on Wednesday evening for workouts and the Prof. Lidvall Contest on Saturday. The contest included all species with 12 judging classes and 8 sets of reasons. There were 5 classes of Cattle, 4 classes of Goats/Sheep, and 3 classes of Swine.
Junior College Division
Overall, the men and women finished third as a team in the JUCO Division, getting edged out by Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (NEO) and Ohio State University Agriculture Technical Institute. The Bucks had a total score of 4328 out of 5000 total points.
On the judging side, freshmen Jaret Hinson (Exeter, MO) led the way with a 562 out of 600 total points. Kaleb Self (Susan Moore, AL) was close behind with a 555, while Ellie Johnson (Mountainburg, AR) judged a 549. The teams best class was a class of Red Angus Bulls. The entire team judged the class with a perfect score of 50. The class of Crossbred Barrows was the Bucks next best class, only dropping 4 points in the class as a team.
For reasons, sophomore Kyleigh Stephenson (Elida, NM) talked a 334 out of 400. Her best set of reasons came on the class of Angus Heifers with a score of 45 out of 50. Freshmen Jake Sawyer (De Queen, AR) talked a 330, talking a pair of 45s in the classes of Dorper Ewes & Wether Does. Kaleb Self followed up with a 320 in reasons.
Overall, Kaleb Self led the way with a 875 out of 1000 that was good enough for 26th overall, while Kyleigh Stephenson was just a point and place behind with a 874 overall. Jaret Hinson finished third for the team with a 867.
Rookie Division
The Bucks had three individuals compete in the Rookie Division of the Prof. Lidvall Contest. The judgers judged 12 classes of animals, gave 4 sets of reasons, and had 3 selection activites for a total of 950 points.
William Neal (Lockesburg, AR) led the way in the judging category with 538 points out of 600, while Tierany Sloan (Exeter, MO) judged a 522. Will Morgan (Greenland, AR) tallied 451 total points in the judging contest. The judgers best class was the clas of Market Goats, dropping only 7 total points.
Neal talked the best set of reasons with a 157 out of 200 total points with Sloan following close behind with a 155.
In the selection activities, Sloan and Morgan both scored a 46 in the Bull Selection Activity. Sloan led the way with a total of 107 in the selection activities.
Overall, Tierany Sloan finished 26th with a 780 out of 950, while William Neal placed 33rd, and Will Morgan finished 54th.
The men and women will return home before heading to the As-Kar-Ben Livestock Show in Grand Island, Nebraska this coming weekend.
