Bucks Grind Out Win against Dyersburg State

(April 6, 2026) Little Rock, Arkansas - After a tough region series loss last week, UARM was looking for a win in a mid-week contest against Dyersburg State Community College. Both schools met at Gary Hogan Field, home of the UA Little Rock Trojans, on Monday evening. Dyersburg is in Region 7 out of Tennessee.

Dyersburg was in control of most of the game with an 11-5 lead mid-way through the seventh inning, but the Bucks would plate 9 runs in the bottom half to put themselves ahead. Depsite getting out hit 17-6, UARM would get a much needed 14-12 win to bring their overall record to 15-24 on the season.

Offensively, leadoff man Bryson Denning (Longview, TX) would go 2 for 3 with a double and 4 RBIs. The freshmen reached base 4 times in the contest. The day's starting pitcher Aiden Poirier (Richmond, TX) hit an inside the park home run with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored in the contest. Sophomore catcher Yancey Steady (Baton Rouge, LA) drove in 2 runs with a triple.

At the plate, the Bucks took advantage of 10 walks and 5 hit-by-pitches. Dylan Gibson (Springdale, AR) added to his career hit-by-pitch record with 2 more on Monday evening. Seven of the Bucks free bases came in the 9-run 7th inning that also included Poirier's inside the park home run.

On the mound, the Bucks used 7 different pitchers with the final pair being the best of the day. Maddox Hampton (Jonesboro, AR) came in and pitched 1.2 innings of relief. Hampton (3-2) got the win, giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Wyatt Jones (Dewitt, AR) came on in the save situation in the ninth inning and struck out a pair to get his first save of the season.

Now, UARM will focus on their region series against Redlands Community College. The series begins on Thursday in El Reno, OK before concluding in Mena on Saturday at Union Bank Field.
