#2 Wildcats Take Series over Bucks

(February 21, 2026) Poplarville, Mississippi - After a 10-6 win yesterday to earn the split against #2 Pearl River Community College, the Bucks headed back to "The Dub" this morning looking to win their second series of the season. The Wildcats took the nightcap on Friday evening, 5-0.

The only runs of the game through seven innings occured via the long ball. Pearl River hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second and sixth innings. The Bucks tied the contest in the top of the fourth on a Yancey Steady (Baton Rouge, LA) solo shot. The Wildcats put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eigth inning with a 7-run inning to win 9-1. 

Nicholas Patterson (Leachville, AR) had his best start of the season, going 6.0 innings. Patterson (0-3) gave up the 2 solo home runs for his only 2 runs, but he struck out 6 hitters. 

In the series, the Bucks had opportunities at the plate, stranding 25 total runners in the three games, including 18 in the losses. As a team, the Bucks had 20 hits, including 4 doubles and 2 home runs. The hits produced 11 runs, including 10 in the win to start the series. 

The Florida connection of Geovani Escandon (Plantation, FL) and Andrew Stancin (Fernandina, FL) each had 4 hits in the series. Escandon did the most damage with 4 RBIs. Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX) had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Yancey Steady and Aiden Poirier (Richmond, TX) each had a pair of RBIs to round out the run production at the plate. 

On the mound, Jaxson Ingle (Lonoke, AR) joined Patterson with a quality start in their losses. Ingle also struck out 6 in 5.1 innings of work. Maddox Hampton (Jonesboro, AR) (1-1) got his first collegiate win, throwing 3.0 innings in relief. The right hander gave up 1 run on 1 hit and struck out 3 in the win. The staff gave up 20 runs (17 earned) on 20 hits, while striking out 22 and allowing 22 free bases on the weekend.

The Bucks will not have a mid-week contest this week to prepare for their upcoming 4-game home series with Ellsworth Community College out of Region 11 in Iowa.
