Bucks Split with #2 Pearl River

Bucks Split with #2 Pearl River

(February 20, 2026) Poplarville, Mississippi - After a last inning loss on Tuesday, the Bucks hit the road for their first road series and biggest test of the young season. UARM started their 3-game series this afternoon against #2 Pearl River Community College. This is the first meeting amongst the schools.

The men knew it was going to be a battle against the Wildcats, but the Bucks were able to take down Pearl River to start the day, 10-6, before falling in the second game, 5-0.

The Bucks and Wildcats were tied 4-4 through five innings, and Pearl River took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with what could have been the game winning run if they held off the Bucks in the seventh. UARM had a different idea. The men plated 6 runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 10-5 lead.

In the seventh, the Bucks started out with a pair of singles before Yancey Steady (Baton Rouge, LA) plated a run on a fielder choice. After a pair of outs and a hit-by-pitch, Aiden Poirier (Richmond, TX) hit a 2-RBI single back up the middle before Geovani Escandon (Plantation, FL) came to the plate. He was already perfect on the day at the plate with a double, a RBI, and an intentional walk prior to the at-bat. He remained perfect in the game with a 3-run home run over the left field wall that completed the inning for UARM.

Pearl River threatened in the bottom half of the seventh and plated a run, but the Bucks were able to close out the win over a tradition rich program.

At the plate, Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX) joined Escandon and Poirier with a mutliple RBI day, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs.

On the mound, Maddox Hampton (Jonesboro, AR) came on and pitched 3.0 innings. Hampton (1-1) got his first college win in relief, giving up 1 run on 1 hit and struck out 3 hitters.

In the loss to end the day, Jaxson Ingle (Lonoke, AR) had a great start, lasting 5.1 innings. The UCA transfer gave up 3 runs on 6 hits but struck out 6 hitters. Offensively, the Bucks stranded 11 runners, while only getting 4 hits.

UARM will go for the series win tomorrow morning at 11 am. The game can be watched online at https://prccmedia.com/watchlive/.
